Brodnax Police Chief Killed in Virginia

Virginia authorities announced that Brodnax city police chief killed by car Friday night.

The boss Joe Carey was traveling through the Ruta 58. The official of 66 years decided to stick to his right and stop his car to remove the remains of a dead animal on the asphalt.

Once he removed the remains, just as he was going back to his car, a Ford F-150 pickup missed him and the Brodnax Police Chief was struck and killed.

A press release from the Virginia State Police noted that Chief Carey died of his injuries at a hospital in South Hill to which he was transferred.

According to the first investigations, Carey’s car lights were on after stopping.

The driver of the Ford F-150 was not injured after the impact that ended up taking Carey’s life.

Similarly, Virginia police officers said that the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or any drug.

Don Dugger, Mayor of Brodnax, mourned the loss of Carey and issued a statement about the accident:

Tonight the City of Brodnax lost a dedicated member of our community. It is with a heavy heart that I must announce the tragic death of Police Chief Joe Carey in a traffic accident on Route 58. Highly respected for his professionalism and expertise in public safety, Joe was a genuine friend to many of us. He truly loved his work and worked hard to make a difference while protecting and serving our city.
