Brodin on DIF’s given goal: “Go up in the SHL”

Brodin on DIF’s given goal: “Go up in the SHL”

Djurgården started the pre-season in May. In other words: it has been long.
– A good pre-season. I think we’ve been training really well. Had good talks, good meetings and then I think it’s been very good to learn from each game even though we haven’t won all the games, says forward Daniel Brodin.
The Olympic-qualified right-handed shooter believes that Djurgården has taken many steps in the right direction in the preparations.
– Yes, but I think so. Then we do good analyzes after the matches and see both what needs to be worked on and what is good.

“We have good tip”

He looks out over Hovet and scans his teammates. Brodin looks quite pleased.
– I think we are a good team. We have good structure, we have good leadership, a good “work ethic” and are a tight group. I am looking forward to the start on the 20th.
Brodin makes up a third of the fourth chain with wise center Ludvig Rensfeldt and tough Albin Grewe.
– We must stand for hard work, as well. Everyone should, work. In these matches, we have had to start a lot in our own zone and play box play.

Clear role

New head coach Robert Kimby is clear about the division of labor.
– I think it’s rubbish. You get a role and it is important that you buy your role in order for the team to get better. It feels good.
Since returning to Djurgården from playing in Switzerland, Daniel Brodin has played in two Allsvenskan finals. Both have ended with a loss.

They can play the third straight final with DIF

Edvin Hammarlund, b, David Blomgren, b, Daniel Brodin, b, Linus Klasen, b, Marcus Krüger, b, Ludvig Rensfeldt, b.

If the final against Modo went all the way to a seventh and decisive game in Övik, there was not much talk about Brynäs being better this spring and winning four straight. Still, a big disappointment for Djurgården and its many supporters.
– It is clear that you are tired afterwards, but you had to have some time off. It goes fast. A new season begins and it is important to be ready. It’s not something that anyone goes around thinking about now, but it’s about taking lessons and what we did well and filing away what was less good and then going into a new season.

The supporters were disappointed and had a banner demanding pay cuts – how did you react?
– I don’t know. It is clear that we also wanted us to go up. It was what we had been working for for a year. Obviously we were disappointed too so I understand they were too.

The points harvest has shrunk

Daniel Brodin’s goal and point harvest crypted last season (9 goals, 11 assists) but he didn’t miss any games. But it is a more defensive job that now applies and no game in the power play.
Brodin likes Kimby’s way of playing at a high tempo.
– I think I’ve had a good ride and we have a game system that suits me quite well. We use a lot of speed which means I get to come to and use the speed which is a tip for me. It allows me to get to better positions and better forecheck. I think it suits me well and suits the team well.

What’s different about Kimby’s shades in the game?
– It’s a little more daring to keep the puck. Dare to play. And it’s a fast pace. Fast game. Lots of riding.

What should you consider in that?
– We usually talk about if you have ice, you take it. If you have leaves, you fit. If you don’t have any of that, you put it on the surface.

Enjoying the new

Brodin underlines:
– It’s not just him who has the puck who has to find a good pass. It is important that the other four show themselves, show leaves, find surfaces to be playable. We’ve been practicing that since we started. The other four must move to be open and be able to receive passes. It becomes so much easier for whoever has the puck.

What conclusions do you draw from how things have looked in the pre-season?
– I think our best match is the Örebro match (2–3) where I think most things were right. Then, the other games, it’s been a bit up and down in the game. At the same time, we are working on a lot of new things.
“Brodda” adds:
– I have a good feeling even though we haven’t won all the games or that everything is in place.
