Karavallur – Briza Binu of Oxford Central School, Karavallur has made it to the Indian team in the international youth basketball tournament being held in Sharjah. Another Malayali student who got a place in this team is from Kozhikode. There are two people from the state in the national team. The youth team consists of those under 16 years of age. Under the leadership of the UAE Sports Council, the competition will be held from 26 to 31 at Jams Sports Academy in Sharjah.

Briza Binu, a class 8 student of Oxford School, participated in the national competition last year for Kerala. In the recent CBSE zonal competition, the girls’ team led by Briza Binu became the second runners up. Punalur Maniyar is the daughter of Binujorge and Reena couple of Ashtamangalam Jose Bhawan. His brother Binro Binu, a class 10 student of the same school, recently participated in the national basketball competition held in Chhattisgarh.

Briza Binu is trained by basketball state team coaches Tinson John and Leemsha Babu. Briza Binu is the pride of the Eastern region. Earlier, many sports talents in this field have won national and state championships. That great tradition is now being carried on by this thirteen-year-old.

Briza, who is a member of a family with limited financial circumstances, is strengthened by the full support of her parents and excellent training from the school, said Principal Jacob George and Manager Anil Kumar. Briza will leave for Sharjah with the Indian team from Bengaluru on 24th.
