New gale between Christmas and New Year, in Brittany. Tuesday, “a depression will deepen over the center of the Atlantic, between Newfoundland and Ireland,” explains The Weather Channel. A depression which “is expected to intensify rapidly before crossing western Europe, between the Channel basin and central England” between Wednesday and Thursday.

Consequently, on Wednesday, “the wind should strengthen significantly in the north-west of the country”, indicates Météo France in its last bulletin for forecasting dangerous phenomena. “Gusts could exceed 100 km/h along the Channel coast during the evening of Wednesday and during the night from Wednesday to Thursday,” continues the French meteorological organization.

In Brittany, gusts could reach “120 km/h” in the “Iroise Sea” on Wednesday evening, points out Stéven Tual, from Weather Brittany, on Twitter. Gusts will be “sometimes greater than 90 km/h in the interior of Finistère”, according to the Arpege model, on which the forecaster relies. The weather will be calmer in Ille-et-Vilaine, where the wind should not exceed 70 km/h inland. It will blow up to 80 km/h in Morbihan and Côtes-d’Armor.
On Thursday, the weather should be less turbulent in the region.

At the same time, the sea will need to be monitored, with tide coefficients of 78, Wednesday and Thursday. Waves of 4 to 7 m are expected “at the entrance to the Channel”, notes La Chaîne Météo, which warns against “a risk of coastal submersion”.
