Asghari asked fans to consider the couple’s privacy

Sam Asghari, husband of American singer Britney Spears, said the couple had decided to end their “journey together” following 14 months of marriage.
A divorce petition filed on Wednesday, seen by BBC News, cited “irreconcilable differences” between Asgari, 29, and Spears, 41.
The couple had tied the knot in September 2021 and got married in a small ceremony in the presence of a large number of stars in June 2022.
Reports of rumors regarding their marital squabbles were published in US newspapers this year.
Spears launched into the world following her song titled “One More Time, My Love” when she was only 16 years old, followed by other songs that achieved great success.
Asghari wrote on Instagram, “After 6 years of love and commitment, my wife and I have decided to end our journey together. We will hold on to the love and respect we have for one another and I always wish her the best.”
“The request for privacy seems ridiculous so I’m just going to ask everyone, including the media, to be nice and civil,” he added.
Spears’ reps have not yet commented.
The singer did not address the issue of divorce on her Instagram account, which is followed by 42 million people, but wrote regarding “buying a horse soon.”
According to Asghari’s motion for annulment in Los Angeles County Superior Court, Spears is required to pay spousal support and attorney’s fees.
The Iranian-American actor and fitness trainer met Spears while she was filming a video for one of her songs in 2016.
He was an outspoken supporter of her efforts to end custody of her father, Jamie, in a battle she won just months before their marriage.
Their wedding took place last year, at the star’s home in Thousand Oaks, California, in an intimate and lavish ceremony attended by celebrities including Paris Hilton, Madonna and Drew Barrymore.
The two were recently seen without their wedding rings in public.
The split comes as Spears prepares to publish her memoir, “The Woman Inside Me,” in October.
This is her third marriage, which ends in separation.
She was married to childhood friend Jason Alexander for 55 Hours in Las Vegas in 2004, before ending the relationship at the behest of her management team.
Alexander, who was seen taking part in the pro-Trump riot at the US Capitol in Washington, D.C., in January 2021, attempted to sabotage Spears’ wedding to Asgari hours before they tied the knot.
He was charged with trespassing and vandalism, and the court ordered him to stay away from it.
Spears’ second marriage, to rapper Kevin Federline, lasted from 2004 to 2007. Federline retains exclusive custody of their two children, Jayden James and Sean Preston.
