[London, 5th Archyde.com]–British energy giant Shell, which has been criticized for procuring Russian crude oil, announced on the 5th that it will divert its profits to the Ukrainian humanitarian aid fund.

Shell bought Russian crude oil at the lowest price ever on the 4th. The purchase of Russian crude oil was the first since Russia invaded Ukraine last week.

Although the purchase of Russian crude oil does not violate Western sanctions against Russia, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Kleba has criticized Shell’s deal on Twitter.

Shell said in a subsequent statement that purchasing Russian crude oil was due to no other option, and that it would switch sources outside Russia as soon as alternatives became available.

He said he would use the profits from certain Russian crude oil that he had to buy to fund and use these funds to help the Ukrainian people in distress.
