British press: Benzema put out Mbappe’s fire

Today, Thursday, the British press highlighted Real Madrid’s “wonderful remontada” by defeating Paris Saint-Germain on a “magical night” at the Santiago Bernabeu, who witnessed the “glow” of Kylian Mbappe being extinguished by Karim Benzema’s hat-trick.
The Telegraph points out the insistence of Paris Saint-Germain, despite the constellation of stars and the vast financial capabilities of Qatar, to always search for “ways to collapse” in the “Champions League”.

This “exceptional” defeat not only puts an end to the European dream of the team headed by Qatari Nasser Al-Khelaifi, but also casts doubt on the continuity of his Argentine coach, Mauricio Pochettino, who may take over the task of training Manchester United next season, according to this British newspaper.

It also highlighted the performance of Benzema, who was listening to the “controversy over whether Mbappe, Robert Lewandowski or Mohamed Salah is the best striker in the world now.”

“(Benzema) responded like this: an amazing hat-trick in the second half, when the 34-year-old led Real Madrid to the quarter-finals in an unexpected way,” said Jason Burt.

The British newspaper The Guardian summarized the return match in the round of 16 of the Champions League by recalling that Mbappe put Paris Saint-Germain in the lead with the goal he scored against Thibaut Courtois, but the Paris team “collapsed” later due to the white “pressure”, so the match ended in favor of the owners of the land. (3-1).

British journalist Barney Ronay wrote in that newspaper, “Under the lights of the Bernabeu, Paris Saint-Germain was the hero of one of the most extraordinary collapses in the modern history of elite football, a collapse even more terrible given the divine talent of the Paris team.”

The BBC insists today on this question and wonders whether Benzema is the “best and most complete” striker in the world, while Mbappe is “perhaps” the “greatest talent” at the moment.
