British pop star on Jürgen Klopp: “Screw him, he’s not my coach”

On social media, singer and Manchester City fan Liam Gallagher (51) cannot resist speaking out once morest football coach Jürgen Klopp and his Liverpool FC. Now the former Oasis frontman, who is releasing a new album with guitarist John Squire in March, surprised everyone with praise. Klopp is “undoubtedly a great coach” and has achieved a lot in Liverpool, said Gallagher. “He is a personality and the Premier League will miss him.”

“I don’t give a fuck if he goes or stays”

Gallagher, on the other hand, will not shed a tear for the German star coach. “Fuck him, he’s not my coach,” said the 51-year-old. “I don’t give a fuck if he goes or stays.” The singer had previously angered Liverpool fans with a post on X (formerly Twitter). With a view to Klopp’s announcement that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, he wrote “Good riddance”, which translates as: “It’s good that we got rid of him.” Gallagher was amused by the reactions. “All the Liverpool fans started crying. I might have said a lot worse things.”

At the same time, the musician expressed the hope that coach Pep Guardiola would stay in Manchester for a long time. “Pep Guardiola is God,” says Gallagher. If the coach quits one day, it will be a sad day. “But you know what? Unlike the Scousers (Liverpoolers), we Mancs (Manchesterians) won’t cry a lot. We’ll celebrate it and just carry on. Then we’ll get another coach. That’s life. But in Liverpool they don’t listen stop crying.”
