British Maritime Authority: We received a report about an incident southwest of Hodeidah and reports that a ship was targeted by two missiles

Yemen – The British maritime security company Ambrey reported yesterday, Saturday, that it had received information regarding the targeting of a ship regarding 61 nautical miles southwest of Hodeidah in Yemen.

For its part, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations Authority (UKMTO) reported that it had received a report of an incident at approximately the same point, where the ship’s captain reported that two missiles had been fired near the ship.

The authority, quoting the captain, indicated that the ship was not damaged and that its crew was fine.

According to what was reported by Reuters, one of the missiles mentioned in the UKMTO memorandum was intercepted by coalition forces in the area, explaining that the second missile fell into the water near the ship.

Earlier on Saturday, the European Union’s Aspids naval mission in the southern Red Sea announced that it had intercepted a missile launched by the Houthis.

The mission explained in a press statement that “the German frigate Hessen thwarted a missile attack launched from Houthi-controlled areas.”

It stated that “the measure implemented by Hessen was effective and prevented damage to sailors and commercial ships.”

No party has claimed responsibility for the attack, which coincides with a campaign launched by the Yemeni Houthis once morest ships linked to Israel, Britain, and the United States.

Since last November, the Houthis have continued their attacks in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, targeting “Israeli ships linked to Israel or those heading to it,” in order to “support the Palestinian people in Gaza.”

In response, the United States and its allies formed a military force to deal with the Houthi strikes, as American and British aircraft launched several strikes on various areas in Yemen, while the American army carried out missions separately from any naval coalition in the region.
