British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said two Russian fighters intercepted an unarmed RAF plane on a routine patrol over the Black Sea on September 29.
Ben Wallace indicated – in a speech before the British Parliament – that one of the Russian Su-27 fighters fired a missile near the plane of the British RC-135 plane, according to (Russia Today) news channel this evening (Thursday). .
He explained that in light of this potentially dangerous clash, he had communicated his concerns directly to Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, and to Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.
Ben Wallace added that the patrols over the Black Sea stopped until receiving a response from the Russian side, noting that on October 10, Britain received a response from the Russian Defense Minister that an investigation was conducted into the circumstances of the accident and it was confirmed that there was a technical malfunction in the Su-27 fighter.
