British Airways announced the suspension of its flights to Tel Aviv after Hamas claimed to have attacked the Israeli city’s airport, reports Sky news. A spokesperson for the Israeli Airports Authority said rockets were flying around Tel Aviv at the time the British airline’s flight was diverted by its captain, but said they did not pose an immediate threat. for the flight in question or for Ben Gurion Airport.
“We are contacting customers who have booked a flight to or from Tel Aviv to apologize for the inconvenience and offer them options, including a full refund and rebooking with another airline or with British Airways at a later date,” the British company communicated.
A diverted flight
For its part, the military wing of Hamas declared that a missile had struck the airport while the Al Qassam Brigades indicated that they had “bombarded” the site. A British Airways flight to Tel Aviv was diverted for security reasons on Wednesday, as reported Sky News.
“Safety is always our top priority and we have made the decision to bring our flight to Tel Aviv back to Heathrow,” a spokesperson told the British media.

Data from FlightRadar24 shows that the plane which departed from London is currently flying over Greece. According to the site, the flight was already well into its descent phase when it turned around. The plane had left London this morning and was due to land in Tel Aviv shortly after 3 p.m.
