The British Defense Ministry said Russia had significantly increased its military activity in the past 24 hours, but was blocked by Ukrainian forces and did not achieve much.
According to the Guardian, the Defense Ministry said in an intelligence report on the 23rd (local time) that fierce fighting continued in Mariupol, claimed to be occupied by Russian forces, and that attempts to advance were still being blocked.
He emphasized that these battles are slowing the advance of Russian troops in the Donbas region.
The Defense Ministry added that the Russian air and naval forces were unable to gain control from either side because of the effectiveness of Ukraine’s air and naval defenses.
Meanwhile, the previous day, Russia set out a two-step goal of taking complete control of the entire eastern Donbass and the southern part.
