(CNN)–The British government announced, on Tuesday, that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will meet, on Wednesday, with the leaders of the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia to “coordinate the response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
The British government said, in a statement, that “Johnson’s one-day visit to Abu Dhabi and Riyadh is part of the United Kingdom’s efforts to ensure coordinated international action on the Russian invasion of Ukraine.”
The British Prime Minister will meet in the Emirates, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, before heading to Riyadh to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The statement added that Johnson would discuss “increasing diplomatic and economic pressure on Russia”, and that leaders were expected to discuss “efforts to improve energy security and reduce volatility in energy and food prices”, and that Boris Johnson would “focus on diversifying the UK’s energy supply.”
The statement stated that Johnson would say that “the world must stop using oil and gas from Russia and deprive Putin of their use.”
