With a spectacular last quarter of 35 points, Brillantes del Zulia snatched the unbeaten record from Trotamundos de Carabobo, this Saturday by winning 92-76 at the Pedro Elías Belisario Aponte Gymnasium.
Brillantes was aggressive from the jump between two and deployed an offense of up to four triples to end up losing the first quarter by just two points (18-20),
In the second set they toughened up the defense and managed to contain the “Expreso Azul”, while Fernando Fuenmayor imposed their game. Capitalizing on the rival’s losses, they dominated that section 26-17 to arrive at halftime up 44-37.
Returning from the dressing room, Globetrotters hit them back, reducing them to just 13 scores, while they billed 20. The game reached the final 10 minutes tied at 57. But the parity dissolved in those last bars.

Brillantes imposed his collective and was once once more lethal from the line of three (four triples) to score up to 35 points, for just 19 from the rival. The current champion did not find any response to the local ambush.
Glen Rice led the Zulia offense with 20 points and six rebounds, followed by Fernando Fuenmayor with 15. James Reese added 12 points and Miguel Marriaga and Jamal Smith each had 11.
For Globetrotters, Jhornan Zamora stood out with 20 annotations, eight boards and six assists.
The Zulianos left their record at 2-1, while Trotamundos was at 3-1.
