Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy Trailer Released

Well, hello there, lovelies. Looks like Bridget’s back, bless her. Twenty-three years, can you believe it? The woman ages slower than a bottle of Bollinger left in the fridge – which, let’s be honest, is probably her preferred tipple.

(pause, stares directly at the camera with wide, bewildered eyes, like Atkinson)

"Mad About the Boy," eh?

Who’d have thought it? I mean, the last time we saw her, she was finally getting her act together with Darcy. Now he’s pushing up daisies and she’s sniffing around a bloke who could be her son. Typical Bridget, really. Jumping from the frying pan… into a slightly more attractive frying pan.

(pause, shrugs shoulders with a sigh, like Gervais)

Still, at least we’ve got Leo Woodall from "White Lotus," eh? Good-looking chap, can’t deny it. Might make watching her gaffe her way through life a bit more bearable. And, of course, we’ve got the old reliables: Shazzer, Jude, Tom, even the ever-suffering doctor. It wouldn’t be Bridget without them, would it?

(pauses, canvas face transforming into a manic grin, like Evans)

And the tears, they say! Oh God, the tears! Can’t have Bridget without a good sob-fest, can we? Maybe this time we’ll finally see her fully embrace her inner Bridget and just accept that life’s a messy, complicated, and frankly hilarious shambles. A bit like us, eh?

(leans forward conspiratorially)

But don’t worry, plenty of the old slapstick to keep us laughing. Bridget tripping over her own feet, spilling wine on herself, making inappropriate jokes at the worst possible moments… I mean, it’s a classic formula, isn’t it?

Valentine’s Day release. How romantic. Or maybe just a marketing ploy to get all the lonely hearts weeping into their popcorn. Either way, I’ll be there, front row, ready to laugh… and maybe cry a little bit… at the glorious disaster that is Bridget Jones.

(bows deeply, then wanders offstage muttering to himself)

"Mad About the Boy"? More like mad about all the bloody money this film’s going to rake in…

When the Bazaar team heard at the beginning of this year that there was a fourth Bridget Jonesfilm was in the making, we couldn’t believe our luck. After 23 years, Renée Zellweger returns to the role of Jones, and that can only mean laughing, screeching and roaring. Although after watching the new trailer we also know that there will be tears. The trailer of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy is finally here. We’ll tell you all about it.

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy

The recordings of Bridget Jones 4 started in May. In addition to Zellweger, Hugh Grant returns as Daniel Cleaver, as do Sarah Solemani as Miranda and Jim Broadbent as Bridget’s father – just to name a few. We also welcome a number of new faces, such as none other than Leo Woodall (!), known from the hit series The White Lotus in One Day.

Bridget Jones 4 trailer

In the trailer of Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy we see how Bridget is now a single mother in her fifties. Her great love, Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, has passed away, but his memories remain vivid. This is how we hear his voice during the trailer. Four years after his death, Bridget opens up to love again. But whether with the school teacher Mr. Wallaker, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, or with the 29-year-old Roxster, played by Leo Woodall, is still unclear. We also see familiar faces, such as friends Shazzer, Jude and Tom, and Bridget’s doctor Dr. Rawlings, played by Emma Thompson. The romcom can be seen in Dutch cinemas from February 14. Until then, we can daydream about the images below.
