work completed

St. Polten (OTS) The construction work for the renovation of two bridges near Moritzreith and Rastbach as part of the B 37 state road in the Gföhl municipality has been completed. The refurbishment measures on the bridge objects included the new production and adaptation of the bituminous top layers in order to increase traffic safety and driving comfort. Minor concrete repairs were carried out on columns, wings, abutments, the structural soffit and edge beams. Finally, a new road surface was applied to the bridge objects. The Porr company from Krems an der Donau carried out the construction work. The total construction costs for the bridge renovations amount to around 300,000 euros and are borne entirely by the state of Lower Austria.

The state road B 37 crosses a path and the Reislingbach near Rastbach with a 60 meter long plate structure. The L 7055 further north of the B 37 is also spanned by a framework with a span of around 25 metres. Due to their age and the high volume of traffic, the two bridge objects showed massive damage to the bituminous coverings. In order to avoid further damage over time and to enable an optimal and smooth flow of traffic, the Lower Austrian road service decided to renovate these two bridge objects or bring them up to the latest state of the art. In these areas, the B 37 state road is frequented by around 9,000 vehicles a day.
