Bridge Builders Honored for Peace

For the first time, the EYFON European Peace Medal was awarded to former diocesan bishop Aichern and former governor Schützenhöfer.

Graz/Vienna (OTS) – The “European Youth FORum Neumarkt” in short EIFON invited as part of a festive ceremony in the Europaburg Neumarkt for the first award of the Peace Medal. “The European Peace Medal is a symbol for the peace that should work from here in the world!” according to Dr. Christoph Leitl, President of EYFON.

LH aD Hermann Schützenhöfer was awarded the Peace Medal excellent. In his acceptance speech, Schützenhöfer particularly emphasized dialogue as a prerequisite for peace.

Former Bishop Emeritus Dr. HC Maximilian Aichern served as abbot of St. Lambrecht Abbey and later as diocesan bishop in Linz bridge builder contributes significantly to the importance of living together across all social classes and religions. Thank you for this Dr. Christoph Leitl with his friend of many years in life and values. Bishop Aichern, in turn, praised the Europaburg Neumarkt as a successful educational and event center for the European idea.

The EYFON initiators dr Christopher Leitl (Ret. President of the Chamber of Commerce) and Federal Councilor Mag. Christian Buchmann welcomed numerous guests of honor from church, politics and business to this celebration in addition to the two new recipients of the Peace Medal. These included Provincial Councilor Werner Amonthe Governor of the Austrian National Bank Univ.-Prof. dr Robert Holzman, President of the Landtag Manuela Khom, Abbot Father Benedikt Plank, Mr. Joseph Maier with the Deputy Mayor Kurt Kreinbucher and Gerhard Hormann.

The ceremony was musically accompanied by Roman Krainz (violin) and Cornelia Perwein (cello).
