The Saint-Hyacinthe business rents, sells and makes wedding and evening dresses. Management claims to offer “high quality” products as well as “unique creations, designed and made to measure by local artisans, in close collaboration with its customers”.

However, the experience would have turned into a nightmare for several fiancées.

“Of all the scenarios that I had in my head, I never expected to experience what she made me experience,” summarizes Andrée-Anne Hallé, on the show JEwhich will be broadcast this evening at 8 p.m. on TVA.

$3000 gone

The young woman lost $3,000 in this mishap, in addition to ending up with a lime green dress – not white! – just a few days before his union (see other text).

Andrée-Anne Hallé is not the only Champagne customer! to have had a painful experience. Many customers expressed their dissatisfaction on social media, criticizing false promises, hidden fees and poor service.

For example:

In all these cases, Champagne! systematically refused to reimburse them, claiming that this was its policy.

Complaints to the OPC

The Consumer Protection Office claims to have received nearly ten complaints concerning the Champagne boutique! over the past two years, notably for misleading or unfair practices.

“The complaints relate to various problems surrounding the rental or repair of wedding dresses, for example, the merchant charges more than expected or does not provide the dress at the agreed time,” summarizes Charles Tanguay, of the OPC .

Two brides-to-be have also initiated small claims proceedings in the hope of seeing the thousands of dollars lost once more.

Champagne! defends

In an interview, Cassandra Bourret, co-owner of the Champagne! boutique, says that her establishment experienced strong growth last year with more than 400 customers… and that almost all of them would be satisfied.

“The experiences (…) that you report to us remain isolated cases for me because 95% percent of them are satisfied,” she said.

The store maintains that it informs its customers regarding its refund and cancellation policies, and that it offers a telephone service from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day, in order to offer alternatives in the event of problems.

“That does not mean that the solutions we propose are accepted. But we are doing everything possible to get there,” adds the young entrepreneur.
