Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma on his way to the French capital –

The transitional president, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, left Libreville on Wednesday for Paris, where he will take part in the opening ceremony of the 23rd Olympic Games next Friday. The Olympic Games (July 26 – August 11, 2024) and Paralympic Games (August 28 – September 8, 2024) are returning to the French capital 100 years later.

Like a few other African leaders whose presence has been announced at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, Paul Biya (Cameroon), Bassirou Diomaye Faye (Senegal), Ismaël Omar Guelleh (Djibouti), etc., Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma should take advantage of this Parisian stay, the second since taking power on August 30, to support Gabonese athletes qualified for these games and strengthen diplomatic and economic relations on the Libreville – Paris axis.

This Olympic Club’s mission is to sell the destination Gabon, as well as to raise the funds necessary to finance the preparation and stay of the “ambassadors of Gabon”referring to the athletes qualified for the present games. The resources collected should be used more generally to finance sporting activities in the country, within the framework of an Investment Fund called “Olympic Capital”.

Historic in their scale and scope, the Paris Olympic Games are 19 days of competitions, 32 sports and 329 events on the programme for 10,500 athletes and sportsmen expected, 4,500 members of the police force and 326,000 spectators expected in the various dedicated French cities.
