Bribe for Plus Two course: KM Shaji’s wife’s property worth Rs 25 lakh confiscated | KM Shaji

Kozhikode: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has confiscated the assets of Asha Shaji, wife of former Azhikode MLA and Muslim League leader KM Shaji. Property including a house in Kakkodi Vengeri village was confiscated.

In April 2020, a vigilance case was registered once morest KM Shaji in connection with an illegal money transaction. It is alleged that he took a bribe of Rs 25 lakh from the Azhikode school management through a teacher. This teacher was later given a permanent assignment at the same school.

The bribe was taken in connection with the allotment of a Plus Two course at Azhikode Higher Secondary School. In 2016, it was proved that the house was built in the name of his wife using this amount, the ED said in a press release. The ED said further investigations were underway.
