GOALKEEPER Mark Flekken became a hero for Brentford when the English Premier League club won on penalties over Champions League club Sheffield Wednesday, Wednesday (30/10), to advance to the quarter-finals of the League Cup.
The Bees looked like they would win easily after taking the lead through Kevin Schade’s action after only 11 minutes of the match.
However, Wednesday managed to equalize through Djeidi Gassama’s action in the 57th minute.

The 1-1 draw between Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday lasted until normal time ended until the match had to proceed to a penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, after nine successful penalty executions, Flekken successfully blocked Liam Palmer’s kick to ensure Brentford won the penalty shootout with a score of 5-4.
For Brentford coach Thomas Frank, the League Cup is the biggest opportunity to win a trophy. With at least five English Premier League clubs set to be eliminated from the League Cup on Thursday (31/10) early morning WIB, The Bees can match their best achievement of reaching the semifinals in 2021 or even win the first title in their history.
