Seven out of eight playoff participants in the Alps Hockey League have already been determined. HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and EC Bregenzerwald are playing for the last place in the quarter-finals this Saturday. EC Bregenzerwald set the tone from the start in game two of the “best-of-three” pre-playoff series against HC Gherdeina valgardena.it, leading 2-0 at times and 3-1 up to 33 seconds before the end of the game , only to end up having to go into extra time.
In a five on five endless overtime, no decision was brought about in the first two thirds before Waltteri Lehtonen made the game winner in favor of the ECB in the 106th minute and thus forced a decision game.
In game three, however, the hosts from Val Gardena are to be favoured. They have not lost a single home game against Bregenzerwald in AHL history (7 wins). The “Furie” is generally extremely strong at home with eight wins in a row across all competitions. Bregenzerwald has celebrated a win in two of their last six away games.
