“It’s not the time to get drunk”… Russia “repels offensive in Ukraine on the southern and eastern fronts”
As the Russian army, which suffered a shocking defeat by the Ukrainian army, recently re-established a defensive posture, the Ukrainian army’s territorial retake seems to be slowing down.
According to Archyde.com and TASS news agency on the 15th (local time), Luhansk Governor Serhi Haidai expressed concern that the process of recovering Luhansk Oblast from Russia would not be easy, unlike Kharkiv.
“Russian forces have dug trenches in Svatova and Troitsk in Luhansk,” he told Ukrainian TV.
Svatova and Troitzke are small towns located in the northwest of Luhansk Oblast, adjacent to Kharkiv, where Ukraine has recently recaptured most of its territory.
“Fighting battles are taking place in many directions, but it will not be easy for an immediate scenario like Kharkiv to repeat itself,” said Governor Haidai.
“The Russian military is in a defensive posture,” he added.
Ukrainian national security adviser Olegsi Danilov also said: “You must not get carried away.
“There is still a lot of work to be done for territorial liberation,” he said. “Russia still has a lot of weapons.”
After recovering most of Kharkiv, the Ukrainian army has been conducting an offensive in Liman in northern Donetsk on the way to Luhansk Oblast since last weekend, but has yet to retake it.
Unlike last week’s recovery of thousands of square kilometers of territory in one day, the pace of advance has been less than that in recent days.
The British Ministry of Defense said in an information update that “the Ukrainian military is continuing its stabilization work on the recently recaptured territory.”
Russia said it had successfully stopped the Ukrainian offensive.
“The enemy has attempted an offensive from all fronts and the situation is very tense,” said Leonid Paschenchik, head of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR), where pro-Russian separatists declared independence in Luhansk. “It’s clear that there isn’t,” he said.
“The LPR is maintaining calm,” he said. “Our military and militia are ensuring the security of the border.”
“While Ukraine continues to build up its forces, the Kherson border is still maintained,” said Kirill Stremusov, a Russian-appointed deputy head of administration in Kherson Oblast.
“Early this morning (15th), regarding 120 Ukrainian paratroopers and Marines attempted to penetrate the Kinbrunn Peninsula sandbar from the Black Sea direction, but all were killed,” he said.
