Breast cancer care, a priority for the Bedolla government

• 6.1 million pesos were invested in a state-of-the-art digital mammogram

Morelia, Michoacán, September 25, 2024.- For the government of Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla, women’s health is a priority. For this reason, a state-of-the-art digital mammogram was launched, costing 6.1 million pesos, for the early detection of breast cancer.

This is how Michoacán is transformed and strengthened with cutting-edge technology at the Breast Cancer Specialty Medical Unit (Uneme-Dedicam) in Morelia, since this medical team saves lives and generates well-being among families, since breast cancer is curable when detected in time, which gives hope of life to mothers, wives and sisters.

In this regard, Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla said that the mammogram was arranged with the Administration of the Federal Public Welfare Assets and that it seeks more accurate diagnoses, so that women can be treated promptly and with the free program. In Michoacán, breast cancer is treated in its entirety free of charge, at the State Oncology Institute.

Last year, 42,000 mammograms were performed, of which 29,000 were carried out in municipalities and towns far from the capital, using mobile mammograms that travel throughout the state.

This medical equipment is in addition to the new linear accelerator and PET scanner acquired for the State Oncology Institute, which will increase the capacity for cancer care by 150 percent, thereby ending the waiting list of patients and brave women facing this disease.
