Breakthrough: Volvo to introduce 600km electric truck | Business

The electrification of heavy-duty trucks continues around the world, and they will be able to cover ever greater distances.

Next year, Volvo will introduce a new long-haul version of the FH Electric, which will be able to travel up to 600 km on a single charge. This will allow transport companies to operate electric trucks on regional and long-haul routes and run a full working day without recharging. The new Volvo FH Electric will be available to order in the second half of 2025. side

“Our new electric flagship will be a great addition to our extensive range of electric trucks and will enable emission-free freight transport over longer distances.” It will be an excellent solution for transport companies with high annual truck mileage and a strong commitment to reducing CO2 emissions,” says Volvo Trucks President Roger Alms.

Five years of electric leadership

The 600 km range is made possible by Volvo’s new electric drive axle, which provides more space for mounting the battery packs on the frame. Range is also increased by more efficient batteries, improved battery management and more efficient powertrains.

Volvo Trucks is the world leader in the medium- and heavy-duty electric truck segment, offering eight battery-powered electric models. A wide range of products enables the electrification of urban and regional transport, construction, communal services, and soon long-distance transport. More than 3,800 Volvo electric trucks have already been delivered to customers in 46 countries around the world.

In addition to the important environmental benefits of electric trucks, they provide drivers with a better working environment with much lower noise and vibration levels,” says Roger Almas.

Volvo Trucks is driving the transition to fossil-free transport with a three-pronged technology strategy and a goal of 2040. to achieve net zero emissions. The strategy is based on an electric drive, fuel cells and internal combustion engines that run on renewable fuels such as green hydrogen, biogas or HVO (hydrogenated vegetable oil).
