OA drug has been found that can lower blood pressure for six months with a single injection. Angiotensin, a chemical produced mainly in the liver, constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure in the body. The researchers found that this drug, silabeziran, temporarily blocks the body’s ability to produce angiotensin.

The new discovery was presented at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions in Philadelphia.
All existing blood pressure medications are taken daily by patients. Many patients do not remember to take their medications on time, which can lead to high blood pressure and even heart attacks and strokes.

According to a 2018 survey report, only 61 percent of patients take their blood pressure medication on time. Not taking medication on time can also lead to heart disease and kidney disease. There are currently no drugs available that can lower blood pressure for up to six months with a single dose.

According to the report, the efficacy and safety of silabeziran was confirmed through a trial conducted on 394 people. The trial also showed that the use of silabeziran can lower blood pressure by an average of 10 mmHg and in some cases by 20 mmHg. No significant side effects have been reported. The researchers also pointed out that this drug can be widely used only after obtaining the necessary approvals after conducting more trials and researches on the efficacy and safety.
