We can expect the creation of a cure for Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia

Impaired functioning of brain neurons manifests itself in the later stages of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease. At this time, the changes are already irreversible. Russian scientists have found cells that serve as a marker of changes that have just begun.

A group of researchers from the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences published their work in the journal Nature.

It follows from it that you can notice the onset of dementia by astrocyte cells – they deliver nutrients to neurons and remove unnecessary ones from them. Everything turned out to be the same as for a person in general – it’s a matter of proper nutrition.

Biochemists studied astrocytes of deceased people aged 22–72 years old and saw that their changes begin following 50 years – they gradually change their structure and composition.

Now it remains to study other components of the intercellular environment of the brain – perhaps some others are changing. And begin to develop drugs and methods for the prevention of dementia.

Previously, we listed the warning signs of skin cancer.
