“Love and Forests” is therefore the story of an influenceand the a woman’s long struggle to get out of it. If Virginie Efira, from film to film, has succeeded in giving more depth to her acting, her partner in this drama, Melvil Poupaud, is sorely lacking in mystery and depth. On a similar theme, it is difficult not to remember the very powerful “Up to the guard”, where Denis Ménochet posed a permanent threat to his wife embodied by Léa Drucker. If the novel “Love and the forests” by Eric Reinhardt had received a perfectly justified glowing review, the adaptation by Valérie Donzelli and Audrey Diwan (The director of “The event”, Lion d’Or at Venice), without being dishonorable, remains very linear and a little applied.
