Breaking the Cycle of Indifference: Why Disinheriting Children Is Not Easy, But Necessary

The idea came to me to write to you following reading the letter from Josée who said that she had decided to disinherit her two daughters because of their indifference towards her. Know that there are more and more children growing up with less and less time to visit both parents. Unfortunately, I am part of the lot and several of my friends suffer the same fate. I intend to change my will. But I would have to harden my heart to take action. This gesture is not easy to make, even if there are limits to ingratitude.

We have spoiled our children too much and we are paying the price. The “I, Me, Moi/Me, Myself and I,” has become for them a watchword that they apply to the letter. Of course, you shouldn’t put all the children in the package, but there are already far too many.

Disappointed and sad grandmother

We certainly have a share of responsibility in the lack of empathy of young people towards their elders, in particular towards their parents. But we must also take into account the spirit of the times where individualism is put forward, and where individual well-being reigns supreme.
