Breaking the Curse of Elusiveness in Mexico’s Southeast

Starting tomorrow, Sunday, the Yucatan team of the 2009 women’s category will participate in the National Championship of the Amateur Sector of the Mexican Football Federation.

The Yucatecan delegation will travel with a team that consists of 23 members, with 18 players and five from the coaching staff, who hope to bring good results as part of the Coordination of State Teams (Codesfut) program.

Last year they reached the quarterfinals and now, in Mexico City, they will go for revenge.

Jorge Esteban Abud, director of the Yucatán Sports Institute, was in charge of flag-bearing those selected and handed the banner to an escort made up of captain Darian Trujeque Bolio, as well as Nidia Lerios Muñoz, Valeria Uicab Celis, Azul García Farráez and Ana Lucia Chan Aguilar.

During a ceremony where Manuel Martín Medina, president of the Yucatán Soccer Association, and Eduardo Fernández Aldana, coordinator of Codesfut, were present, the soccer players were urged to give their best effort.

Rubén Ángel Mur is the coach of this team, accompanied by his assistants Carlos Fajardo Chablé and María Ferrer Rabanales, with the players Jimena Camacho Escalante, Ivanna Pérez Arceo, Amy May Cabrera, Sofía Trujeque Bolio, Jade Euán Sosa, Kailena Santos Díaz, María Baeza Patrón, Romina Sánchez Chim, Gala Marín Betancourt, Camila Brito Araujo and Jimena Sosa Zamudio.

Manuel Haro Realpozo, in charge of Sports Promotion at IDEY, and captain Darian Trujeque were also in the presidium to accompany those selected during yesterday’s ceremony at the Sports Institute.
