“Fire in the dunes of La Panne. What happened?”, asks Béatrice this Sunday evening via the orange Alert us button. A violent fire broke out at a former campsite in La Panne. According to the mayor of the coastal town, Bram Degrieck, this is not the first time that the area has been affected by such a disaster.
The fire started at around 1:45 p.m. in the former Zeepark campsite. When firefighters arrived on scene, the old cafeteria was on fire. Faced with the release of smoke, residents were asked to keep their windows closed.
We are currently unaware of the circumstances of the fire, which was quickly brought under control.
