Berlin: Trier diocese priest sentenced to one year and eight months in prison for sexually abusing a 14-year-old altar boy. Earlier, the Saarbrucken District Court sentenced the 69-year-old priest to one year and eight months in prison. This sentence was upheld by the Federal Court. The incident related to the case was in 1997.
At the same time, the Diocese of Trier informed that the incident took place 25 years ago and that the procedure to dismiss the priest from the priesthood is in progress. Since 1980, he has been accused of molesting children. Since 2016, the Church has banned him from working as a priest.
