The lifeless body of a 38-year-old woman was found Thursday in Lembecq, a section of the town of Hal, in Flemish Brabant. His 46-year-old companion has been placed under an arrest warrant, the Hal-Vilvoorde prosecutor’s office said on Saturday, confirming information from Het Nieuwsblad.
It was the forties who discovered the body of the woman, Thursday followingnoon, in his apartment. He was arrested later in the day for questioning and has meanwhile been placed under an arrest warrant.
“The prosecution initially requested an investigating judge for the murder chief. But given that the external examination carried out by a forensic doctor did not reveal any outward signs of bodily violence, an autopsy was ordered”, indicated the spokesperson for the prosecution, specifying that the external examination did not have no longer allowed to determine the cause of death.
Pending the results of the autopsy and toxicological analyses, the man remains in detention, the prosecution said. “All avenues therefore remain open, it is currently too early to conclude one way or the other”.
