Paris Saint-Germain announced this Sunday the hiring of French international defender Lucas Hernández, who arrives following spending four seasons at Bayern Munich.

The announcement was made through a PSG live on social networks in which the player appeared for just a few seconds to sit at a table and stamp his signature. “It’s done. I’m a Parisian,” Hernandez said before getting up and leaving.

The player was world champion with France in 2018, although he might not play the 2022 final due to injury, which the “bleus” lost on penalties once morest Argentina. During the World Cup in Qatar, he suffered a torn internal ligament in his right knee in the first game once morest Australia, which caused him to miss the rest of the tournament and the season with his club.

Hernández, 27, plays either as a left-footed central defender (his usual role at Bayern) or as a left-back, the position he traditionally occupies for the French national team.

As usual, PSG did not announce the amount of the transfer, although the newspaper L’Equipe advanced last week that it would be around 40 million euros. The incorporation of Hernández allows PSG to take an important step in strengthening its defense, even more so with an experienced but still young man who adds French pedigree to a club sometimes criticized for the excess of foreigners in its ranks.

In addition to the 2018 World Cup with France, Lucas Hernández, whose brother Theo – also a left-footed defender – plays for AC Milan, won a Champions League with Bayern in 2020, in a final won precisely once morest PSG.

It treats of the fifth signing that announces the PSG in this pre-season. The previous ones have been the Spanish attacker Marco Asensio, the Uruguayan defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte, the Slovak defender Milan Skriniar and the South Korean attacking midfielder Kang-in Lee.

PSG plans to resume training this Monday in its new sports city of Poissy.
