The Cheshire and Wirral Partnership in North West England has announced a £4,500 joining bonus for nurses joining its mental health and learning disability team. This payment will be made in three installments. 1500 pounds will be paid on accepting the job. A further £1500 will be paid following one year and a third installment following two years.
If you leave the job within six months, you will have to return the entire amount received. If you work for at least one year, you can return half of the amount and leave. The trust is also offering a relocation package of £8,000 to those working from areas more than 40 miles away. Another trust offering such a golden hello is the Leeds and Yorkshire Partnership. Their Golden Hello offer is £1000 for those who reach out to the Mental Health Learning Disability Team.
Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust is another nurse recruiter with the Golden Hello scheme. They have offered a bonus package of 3000 pounds on the website for new band-5 nurses in any category. NHS trusts in Cambridge, Essex and Headfordshire are also making similar promises.
West London NHS Trust is offering mental health nurses an attractive Golden Halo package of £3,000 in the first year. Last year, in a similar manner, some private hospitals and care homes came up with the Holden Hello scheme for nurses. But this is the first time the NHS is looking for a shortcut to solve the nursing shortage.
