A man was injured Friday evening following being the target of gunfire in the Mercier borough, in Montreal.
The call was received at 911 around 7:35 p.m. to report gunshots between rue Saint-Émile and avenue Souligny.
When the police arrived on the scene, a new report informed them that the victim, a 21-year-old man, had been located in rue Madeleine-Huguenin.
The man was found injured in the upper body and transported to a hospital, but he would be out of danger, reported the spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM), Véronique Dubuc.
Casings were found on the ground as well as bullet holes were found on the victim’s car. The suspects fled on foot.
Two perimeters have been erected and a dog handler will go on site to analyze the scene, as well as investigators.
