The police have just announced that theE42 is once once more open to traffic near Courcelles towards Namur, following being closed for several hours due to an accident involving two trucks, one of which was on its side. The troubleshooting was completed ahead of schedule and users can travel normally towards Namur.
As a reminder, earlier this morning, around 6 a.m., an accident involving two trucks happened on the highway E42 connecting Mons to Namur, near Courcelles. One of the trucks rolled over on its side, obstructing traffic on both lanes of traffic as well as part of the emergency lane. The federal police therefore took the decision to close the highway towards Namur. This confirmed thatno injuries have been reported and explains the situation on site:
There was no loss of cargo but the operation of evacuating damaged vehicles is quite delicate. The on-site repairman told us that this was likely to last until at least 1:00 p.m.
The consequences on traffic were significant: the traffic remained at a standstill for 4 kilometers from Chapelle-Lez-Herlaimontwith moreone hour late. All the traffic was diverted by Ring 3 of Charleroi at the level ofGouy interchange verse Heppignies.
