The accident happened around 7:30 p.m. in Wulpen, a section of the municipality of Koksijde. A young woman was cycling in Koningstraat and was hit by a vehicle at the T-junction with Langeleedstraat. The emergency services intervened quickly to administer first aid to the victim, who was transferred to hospital in critical condition.
The Veurne public prosecutor’s office sent a traffic expert to the scene to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. According to the first conclusions of the expert, the car should have given way to the bicycle. The driver’s driving license was immediately withdrawn for a period of 15 days.
