Around 27 years after the murder of US rapper Tupac Shakur, a suspect is accused of murder.
The 60-year-old former gang leader Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested and charged on Friday morning, several US media outlets reported unanimously, citing the public prosecutor’s office in Las Vegas. The 60-year-old had previously spoken publicly several times about being in the car from which the shots were fired at Shakur in 1996.
Rap legend died in hospital
Shakur was initially seriously injured in the shooting on September 7, 1996, but died in a hospital six days later at the age of 25. According to media reports, Davis, who has now been arrested, is said to have admitted in interviews and in his 2019 memoir “Compton Street Legend” that he was sitting in the Cadillac from which the shots were fired.
According to the US media, vor two months ago, a house search was carried out on Davis’ wife given. The police seized several pieces of evidence. His death was previously considered unexplained. The crime is said to have been preceded by clashes between rival rappers from the east and west coasts.
