The emergency call came in at around 3:50 p.m.: A 16-year-old had gone under in the Elbe. A fire brigade spokesman confirmed this to MOPO. Witnesses had seen that the boy had not turned up.

The operation lasted until regarding 6:50 p.m. “The search has now been stopped,” says a police spokesman on the evening of the MOPO. It is currently unclear how things will continue now, whether the search will continue on Monday.
Around 40 firefighters were on and in the Elbe near Falkentaler Weg looking for the teenager. A helicopter, numerous police and fire brigade boats, divers and an emergency doctor were on site.
