On Wednesday morning, the Bosnian site N1 published a letter from Anel Ahmedhodzic, in which the centre-back announced that he will not play for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team any more in the future. This after he left the Nations League gathering with an injury.

The Malmöite also opened up about the relationship with his father, Mirsad Ahmedhodzic. A relationship that has been rewritten before. Among other things, Mirsad Ahmedhodzic has attacked the son’s former agent Markus Rosenberg for having “brainwashed” the player and “tried to deceive Anel”.

Mirsad Ahmedhodzic also blamed the 25-year-old’s wife, Marijana, for Anel’s decision to leave the national team. In a Facebook post, the father also wrote that he has no contact with the England professional.

“His father has nothing to do with it (leaving the collection). He doesn’t answer me and we have no contact since last year. That’s why everything is going bad for him and I’m disappointed in him in some ways. He listens to his wife and mother-in-law more than his parents. I’ve tried but I don’t know if he got a curse,” writes Mirsad Ahmedhodzic on Facebook.

In the letter to N1, Anel Ahmedhodzic explains that he did not want the breach to become public, but that it reached a limit “where things can no longer be ignored”.

The player describes a very good relationship with his mother, but that he received “very little support” from his father.

“Without revealing too much, he was offered money and a house in Italy if he convinced me to switch to an agency that does shady deals and everything ‘under the table’. I could never have agreed to something like that,” writes Anel Ahmedhodzic according to N1 and continues:

“To change clubs because an agent arranged a deal and for the people involved to get money under the table – just because I’m going to warm the bench and not do everything right – that’s a strong no from my side. He only cares about money and himself, so that he is well”.

“It doesn’t matter if I don’t succeed where I want to play in my career – I will do everything that is right and be proud of the enormous effort that I put in every day”.

Ahmedhodzic plays since the summer of 2022 in The Championship team Sheffield United, after being sold by Malmö FF. The centre-back left Markus Rosenberg for the agency CAA Stellar this spring.

Ahmedhodzic concludes.

“Several times my father has also stated how much I want to leave Sheffield United, and that I don’t want to stay here. It has ruined my reputation in England and these statements are completely false. This is the city and the club that gave me my best memories in life, including the birth of my son”.
