Breakdown in TV drama negotiations – goes to the Riksmekleren

The negotiations on collective agreements between Virke Produsentforeningen and the Norwegian Film Association continue. The feature film agreement was secured before the summer, while the TV entertainment agreement was only resolved 11 hours into overtime at the Riksmekleren in August.

This week, negotiations began on the TV drama agreement, but after 14 hours without agreement, the Norwegian Film Association broke off the negotiations on Thursday. The case is now forwarded to the Ombudsman for further processing.

– We recognize that TV drama is facing challenges after the production bubble burst, which has resulted in fewer productions. This affects both the production companies and our members, who get fewer jobs, says association leader Elisabeth O. Sjaastad in the Film Association in a press release.

However, she believes that the other party’s offer is unacceptable. The union is demanding collective bargaining regulation of the minimum wage for screenwriters, a wage increase of 5.2 per cent in line with the front profession settlement, and an extension of the scope of the collective agreement to include permanent employees.

– The parties are far apart, says Åse Kringstad, head of the Virke Produsentforeningen Campaigns.

The date for the mediation has not yet been set.
