The Provincial Food Industry Company (EPIA) of Havana announced on Facebook the stabilization of bread production in the Cuban capital following the arrival of a ship with wheat flour at the port of the Cuban capital.
“Bread production is stabilized following the start of the operation to unload wheat flour from a ship in the port of Havana, which will allow the production of standardized bread to continue, delivery to the assigned credits and free sales ”, he pointed the EPIA in its publication.
The news comes as a relief to Havana residents, who have experienced bread shortages in recent weeks due to the delay in the arrival of flour. The EPIA had previously communicated regarding the effects on bread production due to the delay in the entry of the product.
Comments on social networks
The company’s publication on Facebook has generated various comments from users. Some celebrate the news of the ship’s arrival and the stabilization of bread production, while others express their discontent at the persistence of problems such as shortages, limited sales and abusive prices of bread.
Yadira Guevara commented: “The ship arrived and in the bakery on 44 and 31 there was no bread. How long will the story of the boat last? Long live the revolution of the bosses.”
Germán Leoncio pointed out: “In the neighborhood bakery they brought out bread in limited quantities in different batches and to the public ‘come within such time’ but those who do not stop are the sellers of ‘soft bread’.”
Maria Isabel Fagette Salas questioned: “And the abusive prices of the bread chain?”
Dania Avila denounced: “Well, the El Bombero Bakery’s strategy is working out better than ever. All day without bread and they take it out at 5 in the followingnoon (older people who go during the day do not return) How many loaves do they sell to the population? A: Not half. ROUND BUSINESS”.
For his part, Rudys Joaquín Baños Chávez lamented: “That is to say, we are living day to day. My God”.
Iván Martínez Santana proposed: “If with the prices of the liberated bread there is no salary that can hold, they should review those prices and the quality of the bread that does not play with the size of the bread.”
As is known, the situation in the provinces is much worse. From Sancti Spíritus, for example, they told Cuban Directory who had been without bread for up to two months in the municipalities.
Current situation and prospects
The arrival of the ship with wheat flour is an important step for the stabilization of bread production in Havana. However, as evidenced, challenges still persist such as shortages in some municipalities, limited sales and high prices.
