Audio and video streaming services became popular in Brazil with the arrival of platforms such as Netflix and Spotify, which quickly paved the way for the arrival of more competitors in the national market. As a result, it has become common for users to have more than one contracted platform to watch films, series and other productions.
According to data from a survey carried out by Comscore, in partnership with the North American company Siprocal, Brazilians subscribe, on average, to 8 streaming services monthly. The report points to strong growth of 72% in the volume of subscribers to these platforms in Latin American countries in 2023.
Brazil appears as one of the countries that consume the most digital content, surpassing neighbors such as Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico, which come next in this segment of on-demand content. According to the survey, 96% of Brazilian consumers watch through smart devices, such as Smart TVs, for example.
In total, there are 66 million users in Brazil. “The growth of connected TV (CTV) and streaming continues to impress those who follow this market closely. We now see consumers with the power to choose what is most convenient for them”, says Comscore senior director for Brazil, Ingrid Veronesi.
