Brazilian player advances to Grand Slam semi-finals for the first time in 55 years

Brazilian tennis player Beatriz Addad-Maya reached the semi-finals of Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam tournament of the season.
In the 1/4 finals, the 27-year-old Brazilian, seeded at the tournament under the 14th number, defeated Ons Jaber from Tunisia, the seventh racket of the world, with a score of 3:6, 7:6 (7:5), 6:1.
The next opponent of Addad Maya will be the winner of the pair Iga Swiatek (Poland) – Corey Gauff (USA).

Addad-Maye, 27, has never made it past the second round of a Grand Slam before. The Brazilian will debut in the top 10 of the WTA rankings next week.
Addad Maia became the second Brazilian tennis player in history to reach the semi-finals of a Grand Slam tournament. The first was Maria Bueno at the 1968 US Open. Of the men, the last so high was the last to reach the ex-first racket of the world Gustavo Kuerten – the semi-final of Roland Garros in 2001.
Roland Garros will end on June 11th. The total prize fund of the tournament is €49.6 million.
