opened in 2016, the CT boasts a residential area capable of accommodating up to 300 athletes, complete with a cafeteria, laundry facilities, and administrative spaces, creating a holistic habitat for athletes to train, live, and thrive.
This enterprising project, totaling R$ 264.272 million in 2016, was a collaborative effort between the Federal Government (through the Brazil Medals Plan) and the São Paulo State Government.
“the investment, in values of 2016, when the works was completed, was R $ 264.272 million, being R $ 149.630 million from the Federal Government – through the Brazil Medals plan – and R $ 114.642 million from the São Paulo State Government. The CT was inaugurated in May 2016 and is the main center of excellence in Brazil and Latin America and one of the best in the world in high performance sport,” stated the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB) on its official website.
Beyond the CT, the COB is actively working to create a nationwide network of support for Paralympic athletes. This includes advocating for upgrades to existing sports facilities in cities like Rio de Janeiro and Niterói, complementing the investments already made in equipment for these facilities.
