Newly-signed Casemiro has said he is the “happiest man” following moving to the English club and is excited to play alongside his Brazil team-mate, “Fred”.
The Brazilian midfielder joined United from Real Madrid, in a deal worth 70 million euros.
United presented their new player before the start of the match in which they beat opponents Liverpool 2-1, on Monday, at Old Trafford.
Manchester’s victory comes following two consecutive defeats in the team’s first two matches in the English Premier League, amid criticism from some fans of the player Fred.
Casemiro, 30, revealed that he spoke with Fred, before making the move from Real Madrid.
“He is a friend with whom I played in the national team a large number of matches and for years,” he told the Manchester United website.
He added, “He (Fred) is a great player, which is why he plays for Manchester United and Brazil. Fred has a lot of skills.”
“I think he is a player with good movement. He moves a lot, passes the ball well, shoots well, he can play with both feet, left or right, and he can pass the ball well with either foot.”
“Again, that’s why he plays for Brazil and he is a very important player in this club and I think he will help me a lot because he is Brazilian.”
Casemiro will play once more alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane, having previously played alongside them at Real Madrid.
Ronaldo pressured him to leave Manchester United, but it does not appear that his desire will be fulfilled before the expiration of his contract. Casemiro is looking forward to joining his former colleague once more.
“We can spend the whole day talking regarding Cristiano Ronaldo. He is one of the best players in the history of football,” Casemiro said.
He indicated that he spent seven years with the Portuguese star at Real Madrid. He said: “It is an honor to play with him once more.
Casemiro also revealed that he played at Old Trafford when he was with Sao Paulo, when he was 15 years old, and that he still aspires to return one day.
“When I played in the Nike competition, I loved to come here, and now I’m here once more and I’m the happiest man alive,” he said.
Trapp rejects Manchester United’s offer
The completion of Casemiro’s transfer to Manchester United coincided with the failure of the English club to include Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp.
Trapp revealed his rejection of an offer from the Red Devils Club.
Trapp, 32, said: “There have been many reports of interest from Manchester United. It is true that a written offer has been made.”
“Since he came from a world-famous club, of course I thought regarding him,” he added.
“Yesterday I told the management of both clubs that I decided to stay at Eintracht. We made history here together and experienced some unforgettable things. I have complete faith in us.”
