Brazil takes over diplomatic headquarters of Peru and Argentina in Venezuela

The Government of Venezuela, an agreement was reached with Brazil so that this country is responsible for the custody of the diplomatic missions of Argentina and Peru located in Venezuelan territory.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry reported that the custody covers diplomatic headquarters, as well as assets, archives and representation of the interests of Argentina and Peru in Venezuela.

Brazil will now represent these two South American nations from its Embassy as of August 1.

The decision was made on the basis of “the principles and purposes of cooperation and mutual respect governing the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961 and the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963.”
