Police had arrested more than 1,500 people after supporters of right-wing populist former president Jair Bolsonaro stormed places of power in Brasilia, including the parliament building, presidential palace and supreme court, on Sunday. The protesters refuse to accept Bolsonaro’s election defeat to Lula in October. Most of the arrests came on Monday, as police evacuated protest camps in the capital.
About 50 arrest warrants have been issued for people who were not caught committing looting and for others who were not present but are accused of organizing the attacks, Justice Minister Flavio Dino said.
