Brazil projects itself towards renewable energies

Renewable energy sources play an essential role nowadays, as they allow the industry to perform functions with much less environmental impact, a demand that is being discussed in the most diverse government agendas. At COP27, attention was drawn to the importance of investing in clean energy as a government goal. In this way, the discussion on this subject takes on more intense contours and civil society must guide the issue more actively according to the global panorama.

Therefore, the importance of implementing clean energies in the most diverse branches of the industry can already be visible today. According to information released by the Ministry of Mines and Energy in 2020, in Brazil, 83% of the energy produced comes from clean sources such as hydroelectric production (63.8%), followed by wind (9.3%), biomass and biogas (8.9%) and centralized solar (1.4%). That is, Brazil is at the forefront of producing less and less destructive energies, largely due to the abundance of natural resources in the interior and on the coasts of the country.

Still, according to a survey by Sebrae de Goiás, more than 60% of the businessmen interviewed showed interest in investing in renewable sources. Of these, 47.5% should invest in photovoltaic energy. This is the case, for example, of Thiago Augusto, businessman who owns Pousada do Mirante, located in Lapinha da Serra (MG).

According to Thiago, the benefits of installing solar panels as a source of energy capture substantially reduced the ecological footprint, in addition to lower energy costs, which influenced the price of the services offered as well, since the fluctuation in prices of conventional Electric power is no longer a matter for businessmen.

“Since I decided to implement off-grid solar energy at Pousada do Mirante, I have seen a number of benefits for our business and the environment. Instead of depending entirely on the power grid, we now have our own solar energy system that is capable of supplying the entire inn”, says Thiago Augusto.

The owner claims that, in addition to considering this change crucial for the maintenance of nature, a very strong source of income for Brazilian tourism, the money not spent on high electricity bills can be invested in other improvements for customers and more affordable prices. .

Pousada do Mirante follows in the wake of an agenda guided by the entire globe, world tourism. According to notes from the International Tourism Partnership, the hotel and accommodation services sector should be crucial in this more sustainable development and signals that the segment should reduce carbon emissions by up to 66% by 2030 and 90% by 2050.
